When Porsche announced the all new and rather svelte-looking Panamera to the world, the Hybrid version was simply labelled “coming soon”. Now it’s arrived and it’s packing an eco-warrior friendly 456bhp of planet saving goodness.

The four-wheel-drive E-Hybrid is a huge upgrade from the uglier previous-gen Panamera E-Hybrid, the power is bumped up by 46bhp with an additional 81lb ft of torque to give an electrifying total power output of 456bhp and 516lb ft of wonderful torque. As if that’s not enough, the revised battery set-up can potentially deliver up to 31 miles of electric-only driving. Porsche has stated that it should usually manage 15 miles or more unless you’re driving it like you stole it.

Whirring along silently while you save the planet one drive at a time

Not impressive enough, well prepare yourself, the electric motors can take the 4 E-Hybrid up to a maximum speed of 86mph which is a fair rate of pace for sure, one would suspect that you will not get anywhere near the 31-mile electric-only range while attempting this speed.

The yellow markings give you official eco-warrior status

Chime in the E-Hybrid’s 2.9-litre V6 engine alongside the electric motors and the 0-60 run is completed in a swift 4.6 seconds, keep the fun pedal nailed and you will reach 172mph whilst saving the planet like a proper eco-warrior.

The oddest figures to come out of all the Panamera stats and numbers are the economy numbers, the European NEDC emissions testing somehow came up with 113mpg and a CO2 rating of 56/km, no confirmation was given as to if the testers were huffing on the exhaust pipe at the time of these tests, but we suspect they were.

On the outside, it’s the standard Panamera stunning looks, however, so that people are aware of your eco-warrior status you get bright yellow brake callipers and yellow accented ‘E-Hybrid’ badges letting the world know your mission. On the inside, you get the heavily revised interior with no less than three screens in the interior. The first is a 12.3-inch screen, with 7-inch displays on either side of the dashboard.

Bring a cleaning cloth, those screens are going to be finger printy before you know it

So, there you have it, don’t go and live in a tree and change your name to Swampy, buy the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid for £79,715, which is a massive £12,000 cheaper than the planet damaging diesel version.

The E-Hybrid, with all its power, technology and tax advantages might just make you into an eco-warrior without the drawbacks of a stupid name and tree-living.
