If you have a race spec car and a closed road all to yourself, what should you do, simply cruise along taking in the sights or go all out and show the road who is boss? The second option is clearly the option you need to choose when the car in question is the Fiat 124 Abarth Rally Car.
The Abarth 124 Rally spec was unveiled at Geneva earlier this year as a bit of a surprise to us, the car’s numbers speak volumes of Abarth’s intent here, you get a 1.8-litre motor tuned up to produce 300bhp, this motor also features in the Alfa 4C and Giulietta sports cars.
This car has been engineered to meet the FIA’s R-GT class for rear wheel drive cars to participate in rally events; this means you get a sequential six-speed transmission, a hard top and FIA-spec roll cage and a full set-up of rally tuned suspension. It also has a roof scoop because rally cars are meant to be mean and angry looking and the whole package combined go some way to making 124 Abarth Rally look as mean as hell.
In the clip, we get to see the greatness of the Abarth 124 Rally being flung around corners pulling off massive power slides which are just awesome, being a rear wheel drive coupe, you can only speculate how it would handle the gravel but we hope that it would be even more awesome. The 124 Abarth Rally was designed for use in the FIA’s tarmac based R-GT Cup series races so tarmac power sliding is just peachy for now.
When watching this clip, you cannot help but smile and think to yourself, firstly the noise it makes is just epic, snarling and menacing as it slides and pops and bangs its way around the corners, the second thought is, yes please, I want one as a daily driver, can I have some number plates please Fiat.
The Fiat 124 Abarth Rally Car, making the world a happier place one powerslide at a time……..
