The Spitfire is as much a part of British culture as Her Royal Majesty The Queen, a good cup of tea and forming an orderly queue for some reason.
Now you can buy your very own Spitfire in the form of an Aston Martin Vantage V12 S, the ‘Spitfire 80’ is the name, which was created at the request of Aston Martin Cambridge to celebrate 80 years since the first ever Spitfire took to the air.
The ‘Spitfire 80’ features ‘Duxford Green’ paintwork referring to RAF Duxford which was the home of the Spitfire Squadron, this coupled with the yellow bodywork accents continues the tribute to the legendary airplane.
The Spitfire is still regarded as one of Britain’s highest engineering accomplishments having played a pivotal role in the British war effort throughout the Second World War.
The ‘Spitfire 80’ is a limited run car with only 8 units being, all of this heritage is not just for show: The Duxford Aircraft Restoration Company has hand-made an additional array of the components just for this car, these include tailpipe finishers which, Aston Martin have stated, will produce a “rainbow ‘bloom’ effect to match the original Spitfire exhaust” which sounds magnificent.
The interior has also received plenty of treatment from Aston with special embroidered logos on the headrests, and the RAF’s famous roundel has been tastefully integrated into the Vantage’s central dash unit.
Just check out the emergency ‘release’ button on the door, god dam amazing:
