The troubled McLaren team has unveiled a new darker ‘stealth’ livery that its Formula 1 cars will run during this weekend’s upcoming Spanish F1 race.
The Honda-powered team announced this past Tuesday that dispensing with the chrome elements of its previous livery in favour of a and I quote “dynamic, predatory, graphite-grey colouration” that it hoped would be beneficial in both daytime and night races.
The repaint for McLaren’s this first season with Honda engines 1992 was the subject of much speculation over the winter, the similar look to the 2014 car disappointed many fans and observers alike.
Mclaren F1 head Ron Dennis said at the time that a change of livery could come later in the year, but it would be down to commercial reasons only.
I for one am a huge Mclaren fan and so far they have had an exceptionally tough season so far with Alonso’s pre season crash issues and the huge amount of mechanical issues. All that is being said currently says that Spain will be a turning point for the Woking based team.
For the most part I just want to see the hugely talented duo of Alonso and Button be given a car worthy of their talent.
