Steve McQueen was a huge fan of cars, a Ferrari 275 GTB and a Jaguar XKSS are just a couple of the cars the late actor owned. In recent years anything McQueen owned even for a short period goes at auction for way in excess of what a standard normally owned car would do.

McQueens 1976 Porsche 930 turbo will undoubtedly be no exception to this rule when it crosses the block at Mecum Auctions on August 15th 2015.

The car which was made to order for McQueen comes in a stunning slate gray and was one of the very last cars that he owned before his untimely passing.

The stealth colour was ordered in conjunction with other such features as a toggle switch allowing McQueen to kill the rear lights if he gained police attention during a high speed canyon run.

The current owner is Mike Regalia who has owned and restored two of McQueens cars to date. The first being McQueen’s Ferrari 250 Lusso that Christies sold at auction for $2,310,000. A year later, Mike acquired McQueen’s 1976 Porsche 930.

That slate grey Porsche will cross the auction block at Mecum Auctions in Monterey on Saturday, August 15th. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Boys Republic.
