The Mercedes AMG GT is a thing of beauty with a snarling barkingly hardcore element to it. So, how do you improve on this as a car, you let the entire world in by chopping the roof off whilst giving it some more amazing power, that’s how.
This is the Mercedes AMG GT Roadster, available in two distinct versions, the AMG GT C version comes with a wig losing 557 horsepower from its magnificent 4.0 litre twin-turbo powered V-8 motor, 0-60, 3,7 seconds, which is very very quick indeed.
If you think that Mercedes simply took a hacksaw Clarkson style to the AMG GT Roadster then think again. The Roadster has a revised gearbox ratios for improved acceleration and easier cruising, they have also widened the rear track to match the bonkers AMG GT R, from which they stole the rear wheel steering set-up and which below 62mph steers the rear wheels in the opposite direction, after this all four wheels steer in the same direction for improved stability, again a good thing.
The ‘entry-level’ roadster version has a formidable 476 rampaging horsepowers helping it to complete the 0-60 dash in a still very quick 4.0 seconds.
The roof set-up is a good old fashioned fabric version, well done Mercedes for not going down the heavy steel folding roof set-up, this will allow the roof to descend in a mere 11 seconds. Aside from the weight factor you also won’t lose all of your boot space when the roof is down.
Now, all of these numbers and stats are almost irrelevant as just look at it, it’s not just good looking, its melt in the mouth, dream about and wake up in a cold sweat good looking, bang up job Mercedes for getting this one spot on.
Now, I will shut up and let you take in the beauty of the Mercedes AMG GT Roadster.
