Jaguar unveiled its stunning I-Pace electric SUV concept to the world late last year as the Los Angeles motor show, now, they have bought it to London’s Olympic park to put it through its paces.
The UK carmaker has also decided to present us with an actual moving, fully functional prototype painted in a colour named as “Photon Red”. If you thought the concept was stunning, just take a look at this new incarnation as it makes it way around the capital.
Jaguar also confirmed that this colour scheme will be available to buyers of the final production model. The company also confirmed that they have taken 350 deposits for the I-Pace since the concept was revealed. No word on final pricing yet, but based on that it should be priced at around 10-15% above the top of the range F-Pace with similar options which would mean around £60,000 entry fee.
The I-Pace is one of Jaguar’s boldest moves in its 80-year plus history. It will also pit them directly against upstart and electric car leader Tesla with the Model X being considered a direct rival.
Still no word on when the I-Pace will actually arrive on UK roads but it is expected sometime in 2018. Until then the sight of this concept moving silently around London should be enough to show you a preview of the new and very bold direction that Jaguar is heading in the next few years.
