The Super Hatch wars just stepped up to an all new level of crazy today with Honda’s reveal of what will be the all-new Honda Civic Type R at the Paris Motor Show.
This is it and its utterly crazy, bonkers and insane looking, look at it, have you ever seen a humble hatchback turned into something as crazy as this, I think not. Look at it, its dripping with insanity from every angle, its built strike fear into small children and animals alike.
Named the Honda Civic Type R prototype, what you are looking at is near as production ready version of the next Type R if ever there was one, expect it to start hitting showrooms at some point in 2018.
The Type R is based on the recently unveiled all new Civic hatchback, the revised model is larger than the model it replaces and this Type R model will be available globally and will be built at Honda’s Swindon factory in the UK.
Changes from the current car are copious and include such highlights and 20-inch black alloy wheels shod with 245 section performance tyres, carbon fibre side skirts, an insane looking centre exhaust system and the craziest looking rear spoiler set-up seen on a road-going car since like forever.
So far Honda has not announced any power or performance figures for the revised Type R, based on the current motor expect an increase in power output over the current car’s 300bhp, a Focus RS rivalling 340bhp would be a good number.
Now with rivals such as the Focus RS and the Audi RS3, the super-hatch wars have just got a whole lot crazier, count us all in.
