It has been well versed that the 2016 Ford Focus RS has a Drift Mode is a thing of greatness, this feature simply sends more power to the back wheels enabling even the most ham-fisted of drivers to drift like Ken Block.

When activating this mode you do get an on-screen warning stating quite clearly “Track Use Only”, one Focus RS owner clearly didn’t read this or was unable to do so due to screaming in terror whilst going sideways into a massive ditch.

This warning is displayed for good reason

This clip was captured during a recent New York ST Owners Club event, which went somewhat sideways in the worst possible way for an unlucky RS owner:

As you can see the RS driver clearly wanted to embrace their inner ‘Ken Blockiness’ and attempted to drift like a pro and failed miserably, instead they bounced off the wall of a cliff and then had their car eaten by a ditch.

The ST Owners Club of New York had this to say in respect of the incident:

PLEASE NOTE – NYST (The NY ST Club) does not condone or approve of this reckless behaviour on public roadways. The offending person was immediately booted from our club. We practice safety on the road during our cruises, and actions such as this will be dealt with with ZERO TOLERANCE.

Take it to the track, if you want to drive like this.

There you have it, a life lesson, read the fucking instructions on the dashboard, Ford put them there for good reason as Drift Mode was not intended for use on a public road you simpleton, now go away and think about what you’ve done and stop ruining it for the rest of us.
