BMW have announced the release of the new M4 CS model. Confused as to where this new model sits in the range? Let me explain for you.  The German carmaker has confirmed the M4 CS will be the second most powerful model in the range sitting just below the insane GTS model but above the excellent competition package model.

The M4 CS is confirmed as a limited run model, no word on how many will be made, but order one soon to avoid being disappointed.

More Power And Speed

This limited edition car gets a 10bhp power lift from the comp pack model to produce 454bhp from the 3.0-litre twin-power turbocharged straight-six engine. This additional power shaves 0.1 from the 0-62mph dash which is reduced to 3.9 seconds.

No manual option I’m afraid, but you do get BMW’s excellent seven-speed paddle shift setup as standard, you also get the M Driver’s Package which gives you a raised top speed of 174 mph (from 155mph).

More Grip And Lightness

In order to use all the spare M parts hanging around the workshop, BMW have also included as standard the Adaptive M suspension; add to this an all new unique wheel design for this car and grippy Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2s to keep you on the road and the CS really starts to stand apart from its more standard siblings.

The interior has also been modified with the addition of Alcantara-covered seats, door panels with pull-loops. You can also option a bit more comfort if you wish to you for no additional cost, as in you can spec actual door handles if you wish to.

More Exclusive And More Price

All of this hardcore-ness comes at a price though, again as usual with these things less is more, so very much more when you considered that the M4 CS will be priced at £89,130.  This is around £25,000 more that the competition package model, or half the base cost of an M2.

Expect to see the M4 CS arriving on the road soon, then expect rumors of the M2 CS to ramp up until BMW have to start listening to us all and actually make it a real thing.
