If you were around in the early 2,000s and were into cars at the time then you should already be aware of the classic BMW Films series “The Hire”, if somehow you’re not aware then get over to YouTube and have a look as they are utterly amazing. At the time the most amazing thing was that BMW gave us these films for free, you could just log onto the website and download away to your heart’s content, all this was before YouTube was even a thing.
Now, after a long wait BMW have announced the return of the film series with an all new episode titled “The Escape” and it looks utterly amazing.
Rumours of a return for the film series has been floating about since 2014, given for original series lead actor Clive Owens busy schedule nothing more was heard until today’s announcement. “The Escape” will star Clive Owen as the driver, Jon Bernthal, Dakota Fanning and Vera Farmiga. The film is written and directed by South African Neill Blomkamp, whose gave us the amazingly brutal sci-fi alien flick District 9.
No further word yet if “The Escape” will be a one-off film or part of a full reboot for the series. We can but hope though that BMW will give us a new series of films while incorporating the top film directors and actors of today.
The original series featured such talent as the late John Frankenheimer along with blockbuster directors and actors including Ang Lee, Guy Ritchie, John Woo, Madonna, Gary Oldman, Mickey Rourke and James Brown.
Get ready, “The Escape” is released on 23 October 2016, we cannot wait to see this………….
