The BMW 1M, what a thing with its flared body work and turbo’ed straight six engine. During the 1M’s limited run BMW built a mere 6,309 examples worldwide due to popular demand.
The BMW 1 Series M Coupe was a high-performance version of the BMW 1 Series Coupe, it was developed by BMW’s motorsport branch BMW M. The usual BMW naming convention would have called the car the “M1”, the name “BMW 1 Series M” was used instead, to avoid confusion with the original BMW M1.
The straight 6 turbo engine produces 340 PS (250 kW) at 5900 rpm and 332 lb·ft (450 N·m) torque from 1,500 to 4,500 rpm (with +369 lb·ft (500 N·m) overboost).
Clearly this rarity and power numbers either didn’t bother or concern one owner who decided to take his 1M to the Nurburgring which is also known as the ‘Green Hell’ for good reason.
As you can clearly see in this heart-breaking video the 1M has a disagreement with an Armco with the said barrier winning hands down.
Thankfully no one else appears to have been involved in the shunt, hopefully, the 1M can be repaired as it does not make for comfortable viewing at all.
