BMW has given the 1 Series and 2 Series a facelift, as seems to be the norm these days you’d have to be a massive car nerd to spot the difference.
The changes are mainly cosmetic along with the addition of new tech on the both inside and out. On the outside you get new LED head- and taillights, some new wheel designs and gloss black trademark kidney grilles.
New BMW 1-Series
BMW has also added a few new color options to the range, you can now spec your 1-Series in Sunset Orange and Seaside Blue, whereas the 2-Series can also be specced in these colors as well as the exotic sounding Mediterranean Blue.
On the inside, you now get a wider choice of additional trim options, some new air vents, and a new dial setup. iDrive now comes with a fancy touchscreen, wi-fi hotspot capability, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto setup and inductive charging for your phone.
New BMW 2 Series
What hasn’t changed is the engine line-up which retains the varied selection from three to six cylinder engines which are very good. Both the M badged cars remain rear wheel drive and therefore huge fun.
This facelift means the current 1-Series and 2-Series range defies the signs of aging until a new model arrives in around 2019. The current 1 and 2 Series is amongst one of the best rear wheel drive cars currently available for the money. Thankfully BMW has applied a light touch approach to these changes which will keep it at the top of its game.
