When a notification for the film trailer for Baby Driver arrived in my inbox, I was slightly puzzled. For one the title is exceptionally misleading, there is no actual baby that can drive. Instead, we get the very handy behind the wheel, music listening, main protagonist named ‘Baby’.
This new flick comes directly from the great mind of Edgar Wright, the director that gave the world the excellent “Shaun of the Dead,” “Hot Fuzz” to name but a few. In summary, Baby Driver is an all out heist caper revolving around the getaway driver Baby. There is a stellar cast as appearing alongside Ansel Elgort in the title role, Jon Hamn, Jamie Foxx, Jon Bernthal and Kevin Spacey to name but a few.
The choice of getaway cars seems to be inspired, though, in the trailer we see a red Subaru WRX being flung to within an inch of its life. Also present is what appears to be a Dodge Challenger Hellcat and a classic Chevy Caprice, again both being flung to within an inch of their respective lives.
The film made its debut at the SXSW film festival recently to strong reviews, despite this, however, the film won’t actually make it to cinemas until August 2017. Why I don’t know as it looks like it could be the car themed film of the summer (yes, I am ignoring Fast 8).
