Have you ever wondered what would happen is a major prestige car maker and a rather successful race team got together to make a car, well wonder no longer as Aston Martin have decided to collaborate with Red Bull racing to produce the AM-RB 001, given the rather unadventurous naming convention you would hope it’s completely bonkers and you’d be right.
Welcome to the utterly stunning and quite bonkers Aston Martin AM-RB 001:
Starting with the bonkers numbers of the 001, V12 engine that is naturally aspirated giving the car a 1:1 power to weight ratio, no turbos, no hybrid motor and battery related malarkey either, just a pure roaring V12 engine with masses of power.
The few details released confirm that the 001 is a street car (like no other) and also a track focused race car, the 001 was designed by Red Bull F1’s chief technical officer Adrian Newey and Marek Reichman and David King at Aston Martin.
No details or power output, weight or performance times have been released so far, the only confirmation is that Aston Martin will commence testing the car in 2017, the total production is slated to be between 99 to 150 road cars with 25 set aside as race track-only specials.
Given the way this thing looks, as in its clearly from the future while being utterly bonkers, the passenger cell is like the cockpit of a space ship, the body shape screams aerodynamics at every part, also the most interesting part is that the car appears to have a channel underneath the car so that maximum airflow is achieved as well as downforce from all of the air channels on the sides of the car.
More details will hopefully be revealed soon enough, for now just revel in the lunacy that is the AM-RB 001.
