SUV’s are literally everywhere these days, sadly though a majority of them look pretty much the same. Thankfully the Italians have come along to save us all by giving us the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio; and what a stunner it is.
The Stelvio Quadrifoglio has been unveiled at the LA Auto Show, think of it as the Ferrari SUV that they never built (and never will according to the company), this SUV is the third entry in the re-birth of Alfa Romeo that started with the gorgeous 4C a few years back, this was then followed up with the positively trouser soiling Giulia and now we have this, the most stunning SUV I have ever laid eyes on.
Alfa claim it’s the fastest SUV in its class, this is quite a claim indeed when you consider the entries from Porsche and Range Rover are not exactly slow by any standards. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio has an estimated 0–60mph time of 3.9 seconds which for something that is very tall and large is utterly amazing.
The company have also made the bold claim that the Stelvio Quadrifoglio will be the fastest SUV to ever lap the famed Nürburgring – this is according to a computer simulation (I didn’t know such things existed, how can I try this), I kid you not, whilst it’s a bold claim, with the supercar matching 0-60 time you can well believe it.
The Quadrifoglio Stelvio, which is named after the spectacular Stelvio pass in Italy, boasts a staggering 510hp Ferrari-inspired 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 motor, they have borrowed Q4 all-wheel drive system from Maserati, and this distributes the power to all four wheels.
As Ferrari are never going to give us an SUV this will have to do, now the hard choice, a Porsche Macan Turbo or the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio, what a choice to have to make…..
