Alfa Romeo has announced the Giulia Veloce before its official reveal at the 2016 Paris Motor Show.

The revised model features a choice of a 276bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol motor or a 207bhp 2.2-litre diesel motor. The Veloce is essentially a mid-way model to fill the rather large gap between the standard Giulia’s and the storming Giulia Quadrifoglio model.

Whilst Alfa Romeo says the car will be widely sold throughout Europe but is yet to confirm exactly where. Given that a diesel model is included I would predict this is destined for the UK as with the looks and the performance the Giulia stands out amongst many of the other alternatives here in the UK.

The Veloce also gets a new four-wheel-drive system which Alfa has named ‘Q4’ tech. This technology allows for up to 60 percent of torque to be channelled to the front wheels when needed, with rear-wheel drive remaining the norm during everyday driving which sounds like a lot of fun. The addition of this system adds a minor amount of an additional 60kg to the weight of the Giulia.

The Veloce models also feature sportier bumpers unique to this model, black leather interior trim and the fantastic looking ‘Blue Misano’ paintwork. Personally, I am just in love with the looks of this thing, the yellow ‘Alfa Romeo’ inscribed brake callipers and the deep rear air splitter are amongst the highlights for me.

The 2016 Paris Motor kicks off next week, so expect further details to be revealed then.
