BMW has decided to again to delve into their formidable greatest hits catalogue for the latest version of its legendary M3.
The M3 was launched in 1986 and was only available in left-hand drive with a 5-speed Getrag gearbox. Since this inception much has changed over the years, the flared arch work thankfully remains but the Getrag gearbox is a distant memory.
In honour of this landmark moment, BMW have decided to launch a special edition limited to 500 cars with a mere 30 of them designated for the UK. This special edition is called the ’30 Jahre’ edition and features a power bump of 19bhp over the completion package version taking the total engine output to 450bhp, in addition to this you get new springs, matching dampers which takes 1 tenth of the cars 0-60mph time reducing it to a rather swift 4.0 seconds.
Cosmetically the cars will feature black chrome tailpipes and carbon fibre additions to the bodywork, also you will get ’30 Jahre’ inscribed on the M-gills proving to people that you’re better than the average M3 owner as you have heritage.
The best part of all these additions is the fantastic Macao Blue Metallic paintwork which is shared with the original BMW M3 E30.
Whilst some purists will say that an M4 should have been used to celebrate the 30th edition, I both agree and disagree on this point but I have to say the current BMW M3 is a gorgeous looking car already but with these minor additions it looks absolutely stunning.
So much want here, now where did I put that chequebook.
The BMW M3 ’30 Jahre’ edition is on sale from Summer 2016 and priced £82,675 OTR.
